Hi list,
I've been looking for a way to access my home machine from my office but to no avail. They have ftp blocked, internet access is through a windoze proxy server (any more than three login attempts & it locks my account so no experimenting) & no access to outside world via telnet/ssh (u see even ping google.com fails :( )
Anybody has a way out (or in ;) ) I wouldn't mind reading the manpage if I knew which :)

If its your company policy, why fight it? I mean, of course you have a right to fight it. Best would be to approach the systems administrator and get them to open some ports or stuff

This is a big & stereotypical corporation. They wont change their "policies" & "strategies" no matter how right/wrong they might be :(

Well... all big companies have their policies, which are meant to be followed - I guess. You must be having a policy in place for accessing office PCs from home. Its better IMHO to approach your systems administrator for such kind of thing.

You can run web server on your home machine (assuming it has known public address) and try java ssh applet. That way you only need web access from your company.

The answer to all your problems is an SSL tunnel. You have HTTP access to the outside world and I guess you can use SSL i.e. https to access secured sites like when you're checking your bank account etc... then it will definitely work. I wont say anything more because I would be helping you bypass a security system.
