I have a Mercury Intel 810 motherboard. That it has a USB controller, I discovered only recently. However, whenever I plug in a USB pen drive when the system is booted up, the system completely freezes. Disconnecting the pen drive doesn't help, and I have to use the reset button.
The device works fine if it's connected prior to boot up. However, if I then unmount it, and try to stick it in again, the system still freezes up.
I tried recompiling the kernel, but since I dont know much, all I did was simply enable ALL the drivers in the USB section. The problem persists.
Could anyone guide me to a solution? Thanks in advance.

I had same problems with SuSE 9.1, and when i upgraded to SuSE 9.3 (kernel 2.6.11.4-21.7) the problem got solved somehow.
