hi Thanks for your replies on "suggest motherboard". I bought MSI K8MM-V. its working fine under linux. But my GIGABYTE Optical Mouse (GK-6PB) is not working under linux. Its works under windows. My friend has DEXXA optical mouse, it works fine on linux on my system. But the gigabyte mouse behaves the same way on my friend's pc. I tried it on Kubuntu (breezy) and Knoppix 3.9. I would be grateful if somebody can suggest me a solution. Manish

Hi Manish,
Could you tell us what driver/port you're using on windows and what protocol/port it uses on Linux?
Often mice running with the default driver on windows work on linux with the "MS3" (for gpm) or "Microsoft" (for X11) protocol. The port has to be the same in both cases -- either ps2 or serial. (Disclaimer: this is only personal experience, not out of any guides/manuals)
