Hi Luggerz! I installed Slackware 8.1 on my machine today and its unable to detect my sound card on system startup. I have a suspicion that the kernel on my pc was not the the one compiled with sound card support. However, i am not quite sure. My sound server is arts(under KDE) and as soon as i start KDE i get an error saying /dev/dsp could not be detected. Any solutions?

If it is i810 motherboard then note that it has some problem with arts. Use esound daemon instead.
