Hi All,
Around 2-3 Years back I handed over a "EduMorphix" CD to a kid. Recently I was surprised to find her using it even till date. I noticed that most of the applications on it are quite old compared with the versions that my daughter plays with. I want to give her a Live-CD with updated software since I cannot install anything on her dad's machine.
Unfortunately EduMorphix does not exists anymore. EduMorphix was just perfect, I dont know why they decided to dis-continue it. Freeduc (http://www.ofset.org/freeduc-cd) is not updated in a long time either There is no Live CD for edubuntu.
I am looking for any distibution including at least "TuxPaint", "TuxMath" and "gCompris". Can someone suggest a live CD focused on Education?
Regards Aseem
Hi,
You can make your own LiveCD with whichever packages you need. You can remove whatever you don't need. Most distros have an option of making a custom LiveCD. It takes about half an hour. Alternatively you can tell me what packages you need and I'll make a LiveCD for you. :-)
Regards,
Sameep

Excellant idea/offer. Sameep can you make an *.iso of the Live CD, available for general public to download?

Hi, The LiveCD is ready. I made it using Kubuntu 8.04 since a lot of educational software is KDE based.
Any ideas on how you would like me to share it ?
Regards,
Sameep

Sameep: Wow. That's fast. Congratulations on the speed and thank you for preparing it so quickly. Is it possible for you to have it hosted on some server with reasonable speed. I have no idea how it is done. I am sure there are some knowledgeable ones on the list, willing to help with this.
Please le me (and others)know when & where it can be downloaded.

Hey - this sounds very useful even for us -- if another space is not found to upload it, Sameep - can you contact me off-list and I can give you ftp access to some space we have to host it.. (we are on shared hosting and have all the constraints that that imposes so if someone else can offer to host it, that would be wonderful!) Or, can it be torrented and a few people offer to seed? Anyways, if there is no other solution in some time, I'll co-ordinate with Sameep and make sure its available for download somewhere ... Tc - and sounds like really useful work, Sameep - wtg! :-) -Sanjay

Sameep

Sanjay: Thanks for offering the serverspace for Sameep's educational CD. Would you mind explaining whats involved in file-hosting? I would like to know more about this aspect. Perhaps point me to a source. Thank you.
regards hg.

Sanjay: Samep has uploaded the torrent. But there seem to be no "seeds" . Bear with me and elaborate on how seeding is done? Can I be of some use?
Regards hg.

Hi sameep, You can create a torrent and upload it to linuxtracker[1]. You will need to seed it initially, of course. :)

Wow!!! I really didn't expect someone to create a customized CD for me that fast. Thank you very much. I will also have to learn this magic :) Any pointers?
