If we are focussing on things like CC, we have to admit discussions from people who use adobe illustrator and photoshop and doze etc to produce things in proprietary formats which they then release under CC. You need a different forum to interact with people like that.
...but however one can certainly admit into this forum discussions with people who use proprietary mail clients to produce technical quires which they then release under CC !
/That/, my friends is entirely on-topic ! :-)
Seriously, though, i'd like to clarify why I think the OP was on-topic.
The content of the thing being licensed was not the matter of relevance, the context was.
I am sure, it was relevant news to everybody involved in FOSS when the CC was created. It was relevant news when the CC was first adopted in a big way (possibly in the release of books or music licensed under CC by some big publishing house, or in the way that google offered a CC specific search). In the same manner the fact that a news network is offering media under a *free* (as in freedom) license, does make it worth a post on such a mailing list.
If 'peers' choose to disagree, well, so be it -- that'll define the character of this mailing list.
I think, that's the limit to which i can contribute to this thread,
