We need to get server with CentOS 5.1 for Panvel Ashram. My requirements are: 1. CPU and Mboard should capable of atleast 16G RAM. 2. CentOS5.2 (32 bit) with PAE kernel should work with it.
Please suggest which server will be better for me?
After searching on net, I found AMD Opteron Second generation CPUs are better choice. But I am not sure wether it supports 32bit OS.
Please help.

I would suggest you check out Intel, Supermicro, Tyan web sites for server motherboards. Please do not use desktop motherboards for server functions. You should be able to find models with 16GB RAM support.
- CentOS5.2 (32 bit) with PAE kernel should work with it.
Both Intel and AMD server CPUs are 64 bit so go with a 64bit OS. BTW, CentOS 5.3 x86_64 is released - contact me off list for a DVD copy.

I would suggest go with a cpu/motherboard combination that supports Intel-VT [1] or AMD-V [2] virtualization; it may cost a little bit more but worth it. Please note that some server cpus and motherboards support virtualization.
