Sorry folks!!! that was the problem with my ISP (DishnetDial --they told me that, they don't support LINUX so i won't be able to conn.). i took username & passward of my friend's vsnl A/C. & now this is email is sent through my linux side of PC :)

hmmm... finally i got an external modem (D-Link), my linux box dials my ISP (DishnetDial), but suddenly it terminates with the error "Exit status : 16" . i don't know what's that. i tried to search on google but no luck :( it works well on windows, but i want my linux partition to connect internet. i'm using kppp to dial. thank you.

Add this to your /etc/wvdial.conf file,
[Dialer xyz] ...... ..... Stupid Mode = 1
This will do it. I regularly use Dishnet, no problem at all.

They don't support Linux? Do ISPs really have to set up their side to 'support' some particular OS?
