try searching for tata indicom + linux on google. It throws up some links as how it has been done. Someone has posted a page (http://www.geocities.com/avinashbrathod/linux/) try it and do keep the lug posted if u suceed. Also document what u have done so the others can follow. Sorry would have tried but access to tata is limited.

You have to add 2nd initialization string AT+CRM=1 select connection speed 115200 phone no. #777 connection name : Tata Indicom Wireless Service Authetication : PAP/CHAP FLow Control : Hardware[CRTSCTS] Line termination : CR
Just keep the phone's receiver aside and try to connect. (This is important)
you can use wvdial or kppp.
I have Tata Indicom's LG LSP 340E FWT and using net on SuSe 9.1 and RH90 from last 9 months. even I tried it on knoppix and it is working fine.
if you still have problem just thow it to me i will catch it.
