hi. can the linux and windows both stay on one system? is it easy to use linux like windows on a standalone machine? can i learn to use linux basic by myself if install in on my machine? is there any site which would be helpfull? is it ok to use linux for the internet and everyday use? and where can i get the Linux OS?

yes, its called dual-booting, where you basically partition your disk and load windows and linux. can also have 2 linux distros on same m/c.

there are tons of them, so the first step would be to read (google) for some docus, next get a *stable* linux distro please and try the beta versions later.

there are many distros, like fedora, gentoo, debian, ubuntu (they ship free CD's)
