We will schedule that venue for Oct. 2008 Meet.
That brings me to invite speakers for October 2008 Meet.

Hi,
I'm sorry to say this, but I won't be able to take up the talk in this meet. Work has been keeping me super busy, and I don't see that getting better for the upcoming week or two, and I won't be able to get time to research enough for the talk. There's no point in giving a half-baked not-so-informed talk, especially when it has been titled "Advanced Javascript".
Depending on if the stage is open for October, I could take it up then? Really sorry for any inconvenience caused.

We understand and appreciate that you can not make it this time. The last time you did a great job and everyone present were begging for more. :)

You are on. I will schedule your talk in Oct. 2008 Meet.
That leaves us with an empty slot. Any volunteers, who would like to talk? If you are willing to talk please provide the outline of your talk at the earliest.

Looking forward to many talk proposals. With regards,
I would like to thank Dinesh and other volunteers for reviving the LUG meets. Great job and heartfelt thanks for the same.

why do we see so much of this in the Indian FOSS world? People volunteer (no one compels them to do so) and then cry off. Not very professional. And the excuse usually is: anyway it is voluntary stuff, so no problem. Wonder if the same attitude spills into their professional life too? Personally I always arrange for backup whenever there is an event involving FOSS community people who are new to me. And I know other successful organisers do the same.
You have committed, and are presumably conversant with JS - so please turn up and give it your best shot. I am sure that it will be a roaring success especially if you do some live demo-ing. The well prepared slides and stunning presentation material can wait. Building community and interacting with the LUG members is more important than making an award winning presentation.

He has atleast informed well in advance about his problem. We luggers simply appreciate the fact that someone has made an effort to give back something. It is always possible that someone in the audience knows more or that your handwritten slides look like klingon or that your talk is actually bad. So what? at least we know what to avoid next time ;-E If you still cant make it after all the gentle persuasion better luck next time ;-)

Sometimes something really urgent comes up and schedules do change. I recollect, there was a guy from Chennai LUG who was to visit us at Five Gardens, Matunga for a LUG meet and we waited for him to turn up but he did not. ;) Luckily there was a lot of 'greenery' around so it wasn't very boring.
Anyway, I request the organizers to hold meets either from morning or early evening. 2 pm is lunch time on a Sunday and it is difficult to leave the house then.
