Can Kopete replace GAIM and XChat? Monday March 29, 2004 - [ 12:37 PM GMT ] Printer-friendly Email Story Topics: Internet , Software , Networking and Connectivity By: Robin 'Roblimo' Miller
An "all-in-one" instant messaging client is an attractive idea. GAIM has come close to achieving that goal, but recently has had problems keeping up with changes in Yahoo's messenger service and some of the others, so I decided to take a look at Kopete. It's part of KDE, which means I already had it installed. Here's what I found:

Hi Trevor,
Your articles are generally very interesting, but they get lost in mails. I have created a blog at ilug-bom-blogspot.com, and will be mirroring your articles when I get time, but I also request you and others to register there and post about interesting articles/stuff you come across on the net.

Better would be to use something like bloglines to just grab the rss feeds from the original websites themselves. No need to add single links then.

But that is not what trevor is doing. He is selecting articles based on what he thinks would be interesting to the list. You are welcome to contribute.
BTW the blog is at ilug-bom.blogspot.com, ignore the spelling mistake above.

How is this different from requesting a RSS feed from these news portals and seeing them on a single page? The emails are more to tell you about an interesting article. Why do a wasted clickthrough going to your blog and from there to the site?

You have raised a very valid question, getting things in email is def more convenient than going to a webpage. I can set blogspot to start mailing new entries to list's email address, instead of me, which can solve the problem, but won't do that unless I got a thumbs up from the list [1].
Thanks for posting on the blog, I will be sending invitation to list members who post on the list for next few days.

[1] Blogspot sends emails with the authors forged email address, so for the mail to get through, register there with the same email address that you used for the list.
