Hi guys,
I want to buy this config: 1. AMD Sempron 2200+ Box Packed (Revision A, B??)
2. Gigabyte GA-7VM400AM or 2. ASUS A7V400-MX SE or 2. ASUS A7S8X-MX or 2. MSI K7N2GM2-LSR or 2. MSI KM4M-V
3. 256MB DDR333 (PC2700) Kingston? Corsair? Hynix? Samsung? Hyundai?
I expect this rig to cost about Rs.6000-6500/-
I want you guys to tell me which shops in Mumbai will give me the best price and best guarantee of quality. Names, Phone nos, Address would be great. My vendor is currently out of town and I need this rig in about 2 weeks time. I already have a P3 case (ATX) and I guess some of these motherboards are uATX (micro ATX, baby ATX or whatever). Will my old case work with them? or will I need a new case? If so then I need specs, prices of the best CPU cases you can think of :)
Thanks.

You know what? I would like that but it would be better if you can drop by and set up the rig for me. Install Debian and stuff, you know, the works ;)
'nuff with the sarcasm! There are more OT threads than this ;). Actually this isn't OT. This is Linux User Group and I want help with Linux compatible cheap hardware :P

if you had only mentioned that ...
- ASUS A7V400-MX SE
or 2. ASUS A7S8X-MX or
Don't know about Via's support for linux but SiS sucks. A7S8X is going to give you nightmares if you plan to run linux on top of it.
My experiences have been with ASUS A7S 266 VM which has gone bad twice an year and now the service centre are asking me to get distributor challan. I think buying from Rashi Peripherals (http://www.rptechindia.com) would be better considering they are among the distributors. As far as possible seek A7N8X motherboard.

Yes, something is amiss with Asus, both the P4VP and the A7VM, flipped within 4-5months.

All Asus, motherboards imported by Rashi, carry a 3 year warranty I beleive, I got both my motherboards, repaired/replaced by them. I send it through the dealer I had bought them from, and got it repaired in less 3 days. Complete pickup and drop-in by the dealer.

Thats great news. Rashi peripheral HO is located in Andheri (E). Pretty close compared to lamington road. I guess I will enquire the prices with them before I venture out to lamington road.

Thanks for the advice. I am checking out RPtech. I have bought a few things from them, nothing big. As I understand A7N8X motherboard contains Nvidia chipset and AFAIK Nvidia support is by far the best in Linux... I have this motherboard in mind but cost is a big factor for me right now.
