I don't like it when my name is mispronounced. Big phonetic difference between 'Kapil' and 'Kopeel'.
I think people have a similar reaction when they find someone mispronouncing the Linux part in GNU/Linux.

Don't you find it irritating when people don't say GNU/Linux? Instead most people just say Linux. I get very irritated when people use the general term GNU/Linux. Yeah, you're right! It IS GNU/Linux? But there is no distribution out there just called GNU/Linux. Instead use the appropriate name for it! Currently, I am using Redhat Fedora Core 2 (Tettnang) GNU/Linux OS. I get very irritated when people just use GNU/Linux! Don't use GNU/Linux! It's not the fully qualified name for your Operating System! :P

It is absolutely trivial. I don't see the point in discussing this topic. Some people are just picky :P

Hmmm.. Some more. What about balun transformer being pronounced in India as baloon transformer and router (from route) pronounced as rao-ter.
Everyone, please don't reply to this mail. Lets end the thread.
Regards,
Rony.

Sometime on Jul 18, RB cobbled together some glyphs to say:
as baloon transformer and router (from route) pronounced as rao-ter.
I don't know about the baloon, I'd never heard of it before now. As far as rao-ter goes, blame the Americans. They're the guys who corrupt English the most. As far as ending the thread goes, why? It's the most fun, rant-free, flame-free, abuse-free, list-rule-violation-free thread we've had in ages :P

Don't you think this thread is plain silly?
