Hi, can't AU ( *.au ) format sound files be played as such ... " cat abc.au > /dev/dsp " ...... ? the file plays properly with sox.. so there isn't a problem with the file.. but I always thought that the 'au' format sound could be played by catting it directly to the audio device. ( It justs plays noise in this case )...

am I mistaken ?
