Good Evening!
I just wanted to know whether RedHat 6.2 works on 486 machines with 2-4 MB RAM, or we need to have minimum 16MB RAM for that or is that only 8MB RAM would suffice. If you could please get to me soon then I would be very greatful to you
Thanking you Santosh

I have tried to boot Linux kernel 2.4 on a 486DX2 with 4MB EDO RAM but could not. As soon as I upgraded to 8MB RAM I could boot the kernel, but it was pretty slow. I am not too sure that 2 or 4MB of RAM would suffice. But with 8MB RAM, YES it definitely works!!
You could try your luck though. :-)

Or if you do not need any support for exotic cutting edge stuff, which I presume you wouldnt need with a 486, an older kernel would do well. I have used X windows with Netscape on a AMD386DX with 8Mb RAM.
