*Minutes of June GLUG-Meet @ MET College, Bandra*
The GNU/Linux Users Group of Mumbai held its June GLUG meet on 18th June 2005 at MET College, Bandra. This meet was attended by about 60 people, mostly students of C-DAC local center. This time we experimented with a saturday meet, which got good response.
Following talks and discussions were held.
* DTrace in OpenSolaris -- by Sameer Sameer statred the meet with his presentation on dynamic tracing using DTrace on Solaris 10 and OpenSolaris. DTrace is a comprehensive dynamic tracing framework for the Solaris Operating Environment. DTrace provides a powerful infrastructure to permit administrators, developers, and service personnel to concisely answer arbitrary questions about the behavior of the operating system and user programs.
* Gaming on GNU/Linux -- by Rajeev Rajeev brought in his gaming machine (was it a computer?) to demo the latest games available for GNU/Linux platform. He explained the various technologies being used currently in the gaming industry like OpenGL, OpenAL, Cedega etc. Viewers were spellbound to see the demos of Doom3, Unreal 2004, CounterStrike.
The meet ended with a treat from Derwyn at Barista :) Sorry for those who didn't come. We'll keep the next meet at Barista!!
