Hello All,
I did some calculation on the r-connect schemes for internet. The Rs. 650 per month has unlimitted time and a data limit of 1 GB. While this looks attractive, it can be expensive for downloading CD isos.
@ 14.5 Kbytes per second, 1 GB takes 68965.5 seconds to download.
This means 1149.4 minutes. @ the standard daytime rate of 50 ps per minute, this becomes Rs. 574.7.
@ 25 ps for usage after 10 pm, 1 GB would cost Rs. 287.3 to download and 2 GB would be Rs. 587/-.
The minimum tarrif without CID for a fwp is Rs. 150/- only. Only disadvantage in standard tarrifs is that you don't get an smtp service.
Regards,
Rony.

Get an unlimited night package from MTNL TriBand or Iqara, you will get better through put and for ~ Rs. 600-700/month you can download 1 CD ISO each night. I guess other ISPs have similar packages.

Very true, but instead of paying monthly bills of 600 to 700 rupees (Rs.8400/- per year) even during the lean usage period, paying only Rs. 150 per month and then pushing up the bill only for that particular heavy download appears to be a better option. It will all depend on how much data is downloaded every month.

Rony.
