I use kindle on ipad and apple ebook reader for ipad. both work very well.
earlier i used ebook reader on Palm Mobile and then another one will Weasel ebook reader on Palm mobile.

Yes, book readers are good. First they are light, handy. Second good eye candy in turning pages, expandable font sizes, cute page turns. Also you can tap a word to get dictionary meanings, etc.
Btw, most ebook readers read PDF also
