I have been planning to install freebsd on my old pc. It is a Celeron 500 with 64mb RAM and already Ubuntu 4.10 is installed. There is no Windows My question Can Linux and BSD co-exist? For e.g. can it boot from GRUB with GRUB having these options for e.g. Ubuntu Slackware FreeBSD/PC-BSD

Yes I don't see any reason why they shouldn't. I have FreeBSD 5.3 , SuSE Linux 9.2 and Windows XP professional running on my machine happily. --> Vinayak H

Only that you need a separate primary partition for FreeBSD to install.
