I had ubuntu 5.04 which was configured to login to inet via pppoe at boot, I used deb's pppoeconf to conf it. it worked without problems, Now I have ubuntu 5.10 (clean install, not upgrade) i have to pppoeconf everytime i want to login to inet, even though pppoeconf asks me to start pppd at boot and I say yes.... I CAN connect to internet when i run pppoeconf everytime. so there is no problem with my ISP not serving linux clients.
I tried to use rp-pppoe package which come with various utils, It connects and creates new ppp0,1,2,3,....... connections but i cannot surf the web or connect to internet,
there is no pppd in /etc/init.d/ , i cant see pppd in rcconf, but i can see ppp
what ever the problem is, I want to connect to inet at boot via pppoe, i have all the Access-Concentrator and Service-Name correctly configured.
