Hello Group
In my Redhat Linux 7.1 box wvdial is giving me a problem. After dialing the VSNL ISP and answeing the prompts wvdial dial says starting pppd at so and so time and holds up there. I have to manually disconnect from this point and the connection is not completed. I do all this as a superuser.
Please can anybody suggest a solution to the problem?

Check the PPP options (/etc/ppp/options or something like that. You need to ensure some basic stuff there such as that the pppd daemon detaches from the console, and that the pppd parameters are set up OK. I'm writing this from my Windows login, so that I can't switch over to the manpage to post the correct options. Take a look at the pppd manpage as well as the PPP HOWTO (http://linuxdoc.org) - they'll get you there.
Rgds,
Krishnan

Best thing is to use the sample options file provided with the PPP package. Also take a look at /var/log/messages ...
