Hi,
I needed a Debian/Ubuntu/Mandriva DVD to install on my sisters new laptop. So I went around hunting for a LFY magazine for the free DVD. On my way I cam across a pirated CD stall at andheri station and was surprised to find a 'pirated' copy of Fedora core 8. I went up to him to ask for a Debian DVD. "What's that?", he asked. I told him it was a Linux.
So he responded that he had only two Linux... ek Fedora aur doosra 'man-drive' ;)
Either ways, good to see Linux penetrating another market ;)

I have seen Fedora being sold with the pirated CD/DVD's near CST station. Only problem is that they charge a bit high. I had inquired for Fedora 7 DVD when Fedora 8 was released, just out of curiosity, each DVD costing Rs. 250/-.

I have been collecting Linux distro DVDs and CDs since quite some time, probably hoping subconsciously that I will be able to open a museum with them some day. If someone wants to maintain an archive, please feel free to contact me off-list.

:))
I spread linux "piracy" :P on ANUSAT LAN (BARC colony).. Its pretty difficult to penetrate this network of kids playin Windoze games all day long and any doze version is available on LAN just for a ping on the now infamous IP Messenger! More resistance from the cable wala (Mr ShreeOmkar who runs his servers and office machines on pirated windows systems) and does all that is possible to make his customers not use Linux. He once told me, i don't recommend using Linux :)) And after 8 months of flawless connectivity, no Ubuntu user today in this colony using his connection can connect to the internet for some unknown reason! :( I've cancelled subscription. [But LAN is on :P ]
Well the main reason being his so called technical staff knows nothing more than the two DNS server IPs and pluggin a LAN card into the respective slot on the MoBo.
Please lend me any new distros you guys have got. Anyone near BARC colony, please contact me if you can give me the CDs even for a day or two, I just need to create ISO images.
Thanks & regards.
