Hi, I have been trying to research pro's and con's of building web based Project Management application using J2EE and LAMP. The main factors I am considerting are:
1. Speed of developement 2. Salary of programmers 3. Security
I would appreciate if members who have used both technologies could shed some light on various issues. A few days back someone (I believe Philip) had mentioned that PHP does not have in-built security checks like Python. Could you please elaborate a bit on what those security checks are. Also has anyone on this list used PHPCollab and/or TrackPlus (An open source Java based Project Management software). Would appreciate some feedback on the stability of these 2 softwares.
Thanks

^^^^^^ Like Perl. I did not comment on the security of python, I merely stated that there exists a good IDE for python.
man perlsec for more info.

BTW, what does LAMP stand for in your case? While L and A are generally always the same, the MP changes from person to person:
MySQL/Perl MySQL/PHP mod_perl/PostgreSQL mod_php*/PostgreSQL
you could also add python to the list.
