hi,
I have updated avsap to run on the wxPython 2.8.9.1. It is available here:
svn co https://svn.nrcfosshelpline.in/public/helpline/branches/avsap avsap
for those who do not know the history of avsap, it was used in production for several years by some clients of mine, was first released in perl and then later ported to python. Unfortunately in 2003, installation was extremely difficult as cool things like yum and apt-get were not there. Since not one of the thousand or so people who downloaded it was successful in installing it, I got fed up and stopped maintaining it.
I will maintain and develop it if a few people show interest in using it. I think it is the only accounting software in India available in so many Indian languages (and Italian too). For this reason I have not set up a mailing list or any other support infrastructure. You may mail me if you have questions.
I have changed the license to the BSD license.
Hello all, Since discussion is on, I would like to inform that GNUKhata will soon be available as a web application for medium to large enterprises. As many of you know The core logic of GNUKhata is developed as an RPC server, writing any kind of front-end including web or even mobile is kind of easy breazy. So this approach has helped us to have many options, out of which we have already started to explore the web based system. Today all big enterprises like it when the application can be heavily deployed with thin clients running inside a web browser. Not to mention we are using some very fast performing web frameworks and ajax is also going to be used.
So please join the gnukhata-users mailing list and be updated.
I know after this announcement of web based application, many vendors of free software or organisations planning to use GNUKhata will be keenly interested. Feel free to write back personally to me or to the mailing list (recommended).
happy hacking. Krishnakant.
A group of Marathi Enthusiasts ( Marathi Adhyayan Kendra) will be happy to translate interface and help docs in Marathi. How can this be systematized. I mean do we have .po files to be translated. Or some other framework ? jitendra
