Hi all,
NAS(Network-Attached storage). SAN(Storage Area Network).
I am not understanding the exact difference between the above two technologies. Both provide optimal consolidation, centralized data storage, and efficient file access. Both can provide high data availability and can ensure integrity with redundant components and redundant array of independent disks. Where exactly they will sit?. and what is the architectural design of both? What are the different types of hardwares can support individually. Can any one plz help me regarding this......
Thanx in Advance.
Regards vasu

you would have..if you'd have attended the last LUG meet..!! anyway..NAs sits on the LAN, talks NFS/CIFS with servers, exchanges files. SAN is a different netwowk..usually fiber channel, is separate from the LAN,and scsi commands and data move across the network. More at Google "NAS Vs SAN"
