2002 is almost getting over. Keep it in 2003... we in Goa would like

Yep...we are thinking on the lines of Feb 2003. A Gnu-Linux Expo and Conference.
Aim...to have the following core interests at heart.
--> Conferences / Workshops/ Tech Presentations/ Competitions for Geeks/Programmers alike.
--> Expo for commercial companies to demo/display their s/w and h/w products based based on FSF/OS tools.
--> Get the Government to notice FSF/OS options. Invite dignitaries/Beureaucrats to be part of some key sessions involving FSF/OS implementations/pilots for the govt.
--> etc...etc
to participate in some way. Other younger LUGs (e.g. at Belgaum) could also be involved. What say? FN

That isn't an option. All the LUGS from India will be FORMALLY invited over with representation from them creating a community spirit and calling for Participation from them in their own ways.
Bye for now and have a nice day.

If we are getting LUGs from other places to participate, we need to find free or cheap acco for them (does IIT have spare hostel rooms ?). Many of the most enthuastic participants may be students who cant spend on rooms at hotels in Mumbai. We need to keep this also in mind. YMCA, College hostels, Youth Hostel......do we have contact in these places to get cheap acco for LUG members from other cities ?

Am trying to rope in the IIT - Bombay and ensure greater participation from their end.
IIT's all over the country are hubs of propagation of FSF/OS both conceptually/idealogically/practically, which is why they can be made use of to showcase FSF's/OS acceptance.
We indeed need IIT's support in this noble cause.
Bye for now.

Hi.
Well, I can informally say that support from IIT should be no problem at all.
Prof. Phatak is away, and will be back only tomorrow. He's in Delhi now ( I hope he's not meeting Bill!! ;-) ) Then, we ( me, Sameer, ?? ) will talk to him. And inform you guys.
In the mean while, let's keep discussing ( time, focus, etc. )

Get me a letter outlining the thing and I will give it to daddy's friend who is a senior Bureaucrat in the maharashtra government. But someone has to go and meet him with me to explain the details. If you can get him hooked, lots of other things will move. I also know senior guys in Income Tax, but not sure if they take decisions related to InfoTech. Could also get you guys in touch with senior guys in police.

I think we should also ensure that people from large corporates should also be there. For example.....Godrej, Tatas, Reliance, Birlas, etc.
Some one mentined that National Stock Exchange is already on Linux. get them to participate if possible
