You can get the drivers for your Motorola SM56 "softmodem" at http://e-www.motorola.com/products/softmodem/support/software.html#linux

You will have to have a 2.4.x kernel for this to work. If you are using RH 7.1 Linux then you could probably find the driver rpms at ftp.redhat.com or try out http://rpmfind.net/
