I think we all need to ask ourselves that while we have expectations from this list, what can we do for it. Some time back there was a discussion on why there is lack of Indian contribution to development of FOSS. Lets put on our thinking caps to find out what we GLUG-BOM can do for Linux. We also need to find centralised locations nearer to railway stations or major junctions so that members from all over Mumbai can attend regular LUG meets.
May I propose a simple assignment for this list? Some time back when I was with Krish, I mentioned to him the need for a linux brochure as, other than live CDs, there is nothing in text to distribute to people from the windows background. Many people may not want to use the CDs or may not know what work to do with them. So can we as a list create a brochure for Linux. We need to start with an overall picture and then a basic partitioning information to show them the difference between the windows and linux partitions and the file system hierarchy like 'C:' and '/'. Provide a lot of links too. There may be brochures available on the net but lets do it our way.
We could create the brochure on the net as a wiki or some online room where the project grows and leave the printing to the downloader.
Regards,
Rony.

Sometime Today, Rony assembled some asciibets to say:

Or you can throw out your thinking cap, put on your doing cap, and start contributing. Talk less, do more.

What was the need for such a reply? I have written many installation reports as well as how-tos on this list then why this attack?

i agree - rony is one of the most productive members of this list - and a regular attendee at meets. This remark was uncalled for

btw, the real question being discussed on that thread was that of contribution in terms of code, and involvement of indians in FOSS projects.

Few suggestions, before I forget. I'll add it to the wiki too, later
1. Database of Vendors who _support_ and sell computers pre-installed with GNU/Linux. However, they *may* be directed to this list for _support_
2. Target User List (Divsion of Users) a. Are you a general user? Define general user b. Are you a Windows User? c. Are you a student? d. Are you a Developer with experience in Microsoft Technologies and interested to learn about GNU/Linux and FOSS? e. Run a Small / Medium Sized Business (SMB) and need to reduce IT Infrastructure cost? (This resposibility could not be taken completely by the List, but instead, GNU/Linux migration service providers could advertise their website / contact information).
