Hi,
We are trying to put up a list of low cost scanners for our Institute users.
All the scanners lists available on the Internet is either too old or are yet to be available in the Indian market.
I would be grateful to the list members if they can suggest some scanners or multifunction devices available locally and working under Linux.
Thanks and regards.

I used a HP PSC 2410 multi-function (scanner, copier, printer) at home and that works fine. I just used a Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 scanner and that worked fine. FYI, I am using RHEL 5 on my notebook computer.

We bought a scanner for our office, a canon flat-bed for Rs. 3000 We used this site for comparision of prices and features. http://compareindia.in.com/products/scanners/
how much use will be made of the scanner ? Then you can figure out which scanner you need to go for.
The canon scanner works properly on linux at our office.

Please give model no. and your purchase circa; so that others can benefit from your experience.
About 6 weeks ago, I was looking for a scanner and zeroed in on Epson V10 but upon inquiry @ Lam Rd. came up blank. One of the things I have come across, with respect to items like scanners/webcams, is that by the time a model makes into one of the "supported" lists, they are not available in the Lam Rd. channel.

Canon Canoscan Lide 25 Cost us Rs. 2700 We got comparative pricing from compareindia.com and also names of dealers who have it in stock.
We were looking for a low cost scanner - at most 10-12 scans a day, mostly used 1-2 days in a week

As far as I understand Samsung generally supports Linux. It has drivers specifically for Linux. But unfortunately they have Multifunctional devices not scanners specifically.
