I'd like to know 2 things: 1) Is it for real? I mean, has anyone here tried it? 2) Is it safe to give my home address online ? (at shipit.ubuntulinux.org) Though it is an AES 256-bit encrypted page, I have my doubts as I have never disclosed personal info online except in selected mailing lists.

I've tried it but I shipped to a location where I'm not, so I don't know how well it worked.

Reasonably so.

Hi mohan. Yeah it is real AFAIK. I haven't tried it personally but I am a member of digit magazine form and lots of people there have ordered it and got more than they asked for. Many who asked for 2-3 cd's even got 10's of it. The reason cos its been funded by a african billionaire businessman. So, that's how they can cover the cost. Though U might have to wait a bit for it. Yeah its totally safe to give ur info out there. Hope that's good enough for you.

I have ordered a set of 5 cd's 2 days back. Any idea how long approx will it take?

Depends completely on when they ship it. I ordered mine when 5.04 was in production and 5.10 was under the works. I then realized that they may send me 5.04 and hence ordered one more set when 5.10 was out. I got both the orders last week with 5.10 CDs in them. So, there is no fixed timeframe. But from what I have experienced, they probably are shipping them right now.

Uh...yes, its for real. Many people have tried it and no complaints as of today. Do you really think if Ubuntu as ripping people off or selling their personal info, people would just keep quiet about it? Prolly Ubuntu's website would've been defaced by now and there would be thousands of posts warning about the scam ;)
