hi there! i am having 2 sound cards in my system 1. On Board buildin VIA -8223 [MotherBoard P4M266 series][no driver available ] 2. cmpia-8227 ~~~ a generic Sound card [Running fine with RH linux fine]
Now in redhat 8.0 and rh linux 7.1 the sound card [2] is detected properly.
but on mandrake i can not enjoy music :-( it detects 2 sound card but by default it selectes Onboard Sound card of Via that is sound card [1] [Of which sound driver are not available for linux, so i used another sound card ]
Now is there any method by which i can make my Second sound Card default in the mandrake 9.0 system

read the documentation in /usr/src/linux/Documentation/sound/Introduction, especially the section on multiple sound cards, and any other documents in that directory that refer to your card.
It is likely that your motherboard bios will have an option to disable the on board sound card. Disable it. Then linux will not be able to detect it, and you can use the other card.
