Pramila , Why don't you check your mount point of all filesystems in /etc/fstab file . I use knoppix 3.3 and this where i came to know about mount point of hard disk,cd,floppy. You can try the following command.
to mount any filesystem mount filesystem path name
and then to check its contents
cd /file-system path name

my cd get mounted automatically on mount point /mnt/cdrom
