hello all, this is Krishnakant Mane from Mumbai. I am a new member on the list. to tell about myself, I am totally blind and im the first visually impaired IT professional and software enginear of India. well, I need to have the screen reader, gnopernicus installed on my ubuntu desktop. actually to be frank I am using windows from M$ because I had no good option for linux and this forces me to use any thing that windows offer. I had a look at the gnopernicus application in HBCSE on the laptop of Dr. Nagarjuna. I am very much impressed and did try to install nopernicus myself. but since most of my colligues are windows users I can't really figure out how I can instruct them to install gnopernicus. can any one give me some guidelines? I don't have a broad band connection and will like to install it manually. again, I am using Ubuntu 6.06 for my ddesktop. thanking all, Krishnakant. I tried to

I guess thats practicality ;)

Umm...no offense but I was just curious. Please excuse me because I have the habit of asking trivial and sometimes stupid questions. How did you try out gnopernicus on Dr.Nagarjuna's laptop?

The best and easiest way of doing it would be to connect it to some internet connection ( preferably one which is always on and has no download limits ). Then you have several easy options at your disposal. You can use apt / synaptic to install gnopernicus. It will require minimum effort and know how on your part.
For offline installation, I think you'll need to download the debs. But I am not familiar with the procedure to resolve dependencies on debian based distros. So I guess some ubuntu enthusiasts can help you out there.

I know Dr. Nagarjuna for since quite a long time, we were not in touch for some days since I was busy in my research. I was told by him that he does have a screen reader called gnopernicus on his laptop and I had already heard its name.

well, first of all I have a very good internet connection at my house but it is from a cable service provider. he has provided a diler for windows which connects to his server and creates a dynamic IP for my computer. but I can't figure out how I can configure this strange case for linux. he does not provide any support for linux (the usual problem) and he does not have any diler for linux as well. thanks, Krishnakant.

Gives the details of the cable service provider, the windows dialer that you use etc... Is it 24online? Thats the norm amongst cable isps.
