Linux is finally coming to the desktop in a big way.
Get a genuine distro and many troubles will vanish. As for licenses you do not require any. This is Linux not M$. But still that 2000 RS. will help on reducing a lot of troubles. FreeOS is one very good source of distros.

Hi Guys,
I am thinking of installing Linux on all the computers/terminals in my office and also star office (or any such GUI similar to Word / Excel).
Now
we are using Win98 & MS office.

Actually, you do need licences for linux. You need a licence for every installation. The only difference is that the licence allows you to make multiple installs. The licence is also automagically transferred to the new install.
