hi,
I am using Debian (testing) on a kernel 2.4.7, and compiled modules for sound card support .... but I can't get it to work.
Three problems that I encounter: 1. no sound 2. aumix complains that mixer support is not compiled into the kernel, but there was no mixer support for the 1371. 3. whenever I move the mouse, I hear a distinct buzzing sound from the speakers.
Here's the output from some relevant commands: # lsmod (or) # cat /proc/modules
ies1371 30352 1 soundcore 4400 4 [es1371] ac97_codec 8608 0 [es1371]
# cat /proc/interrupts

# cat /dev/sndstat
cat: /dev/sndstat: No such device
# dmesg

It works! Apparently, the output of the card is so low that it is audible only when the speakers are at full blast ... what tool is available in Debian to control the volume? There is no mixer support, so I cannot use aumix or the likes ...
SameerDS.
