Hello All,
I am having a dispute with my mobo repairer. I gave him a board that had serial mouse problems. He is supposed to have exchanged it with a working one as the one I gave him had a defective com port that could not be repaired. I did not mark my board so I cannot verify if an actual exchange has taken place. The 'replaced' system worked for 4 days at the client's place and the com port got knocked out again. The repairer claims that it is the problem of the mouse thats knocking off the com port. Is he bluffing. Has anyone come across a mouse that damages a com port, works on a replacement board and damages that too in a few days?
Regards,
Rony.

a few years ago a rat built a nest in one of my machines and chewed up more than the com ports - first time i heard of a mouse doing it

Not necessarily true,
The com port carries a +12 volt and -12 volt signal. If they are shot circuited in the mouse, the serial driver on mobo are bound to get damaged. BTW all the rats (aka mouse) are not made equal -:))
