hello, i, by mistake, deleted the trash folder in kde, residing in ~/Desktop/Trash. Although i have recreated the "folder", it does *not* act like the trash folder is supposed to -- deleted stuff doesn't end up there. i tried searching for "trash path" in the "control center", but in vain. googling around provided the path variable to reside in "control center -> system administration -> paths", but unfortunately in my case i can't find the "trash path" variable :(

Create a new test user account and login to it. Then note it's trash can properties and recreate it in your existing account. Once everything works, remove the test account and delete its home folder.

The trash folder is a link to the 'trash:/' URL and not a folder.

thanks for the info, but *how* do i create the link?
Right click on Desktop > Create New > Link to Location (URL)
Give it whatever name you want (Trash, Kachra Dabba, whatever) and the url as trash:/
that worked like wonders :) thanks! On 3/8/07, Siddhesh Poyarekar siddhesh.poyarekar@gmail.com wrote:
