Hi Derwyn and Group!,
I downloaded the codecs as discussed and mentioned in your link and pasted them in /usr/lib/win32 as well as /usr/local/lib/win32. Kaffeine see these files in its settings but the program iteslf crashes whenever I try to play a vcd.
Another bigger problem, even the 'auto' option as a file system in fstab does not load my CD media properly. I reverted back to 'subfs' but thats no help either. Only the SuSe 10 dvd contents are visible. Would anyone post his successfull SuSe 10 fstab line for CD media drives?
Now my Xine is uptodate with codecs but the media is not accessable.
Here is the debug of the kaffeine crash below my message. .

Rony.

Your problem seems to stem from the CD Drive itself not being accesible. As you mentioned your fstab file seems out of sorts. auto would do else put it "iso9660" or "udf,iso9660".
You might not be able to mount your vcd, audio media (cdfs filesystem is not always present by default) They will simply play.. just make sure your players are hitting the right devices.
also kaffine crashing ...never really used it so i cant comment, but it might be related..

Guys when you download any tar file there usuall a README.. Please see that the difference in what the site says as `mkdir /usr/local/lib/codecs/` and the readme as In the past /usr/local/lib/win32 or /usr/lib/win32 was the default directory, try this it should work I untared in /usr/lib/win32 in debian it worked

Hmm the win32 codecs don't seem to be working for me either.

Here's mine fstab generated by suse 10.0 OSS: - /dev/hda3 / reiserfs acl,user_xattr 1 1 /dev/hda4 swap swap defaults 0 0 proc /proc proc defaults 0 0 sysfs /sys sysfs noauto 0 0 usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs noauto 0 0 devpts /dev/pts devpts mode=0620,gid=5 0 0 /dev/hda1 /data1 auto noauto,user 0 0 /dev/cdrecorder /media/cdrecorder subfs noauto,fs=cdfss,ro,procuid,nosuid,nodev,exec,iocharset=utf8 0 0 /dev/cdrecorder2 /media/cdrecorder2 subfs noauto,fs=cdfss,ro,procuid,nosuid,nodev,exec,iocharset=utf8 0 0 /dev/fd0 /media/floppy subfs noauto,fs=floppyfss,procuid,nodev,nosuid,sync 0 0 And all my cd's are autoplayed as soon as i pop them in the cd drive.
