Hi
culture. The sooner the newbies learn the better. Everyone on this group was a newbie once remember.....
In my experience, a newbie joins a list to get some problem solved. He is more concerned about the problem than the etiqutte. I agree this is not an excuse. But can we not help him without making him feel sorry for asking a question. I am with Trevor on this one. More newbie friendly.

Hello Everybody, I too would like to exten my support to Trevor regading the etiquette. Newcomers do make mistakes and have to be helped. Sometime back i just suggested to try to arrange the lug meetings in Thane,Kalyan or Dombivili areas and promptly a mail came telling everybody about the signal to noise ratio in the list. Regards , Praveen Shinde.

Dear Pravin,
A very good Idea.....
I stay at Thane. Why wait for anyone to conduct a GLUG meet in these areas. Let us all get together and start a new group for these areas.
Maybe the numbers will be few initially but every GLUG has started just small.
And I am sure ILUG-BOM members will always be there to help us.I had once read Niyam Bhushan in LFY who said let us have GLUGs in every corner of the World possible and work together as a community.
I am all for it.
Regards, Suhas

hi all ,
I am a h/w vendor , We need to set up a office for one of our clients . The setup is of 10 new machines ( 10 users hence , but please plan for 25 users since they plan to increase the head count later on ) we are planning to propose a linux server which would have the following features Mail Server Proxy Server ( should work with IQRA BORADBAND OR HATHWAY) File server Fax server Bulk Mailing
The proposed h/w for server is p-4 2.4 (prescott ) on intel 845gvsr / 512 ram / 80 gig /
Please suggest any software on linux that comes with all of this or if any one of you is intrested in setting up all of these using different softwares available in linux . Please tell us you charges too , mind you it is a small co so the budget aint that big . Thanks in advance for your help .

This all can be done by your self. Get a Copy of SuSe linux, and using YaST, u could do all of the modules, except for i guess the Fax server. If its a small setup i dont think They would need a Fax server et-al, a simple fax machine could make life easier.
Regards yayati.

Hello Vishnu,
RedHat9 is approx a year old now, SuSE 9.1 is about 2 months old. SuSE 9.1 is better than RHL9 in terms of features and ease of use for this reason. You can compare Fedora with SuSE 9.1 for features, but again SuSE 9.1 is better. You have 2 options, either use the response from this mailing list, or check it for yourself.
Regards.
