How to rename multiple files in a directory?
Suppose I have 20 .txt files in a directory. Now I want to rename these
files to .doc
I tried mv *.txt *.doc
but I got message that while moving multiple files last argument must be a
directory.
Please tell me how to do it.

Hi,
A "demo" version of Linux DA for Palm is being distributed at
http://www.linuxda.com. However, the developers are not yet offering
the kernel source code (the download page says "Coming Soon").
Does this amount to a violation of the GPL? Is the distributor of a
modified GPLed software compelled to make available the modified source
immediately?

O.k. i got a solution. Pop accounts can receive mail abc(a)foo.com as well as
abc(a)mail.foo.com so whenever i send a mail to xyz(a)foo.com which is not a
local user, it searches for the .qmail-default entries which forwards it as
xyz(a)mail.foo.com
Since i was having some problem sening it out to the net directly, i used an
smtp server in my smtproutes file which did the needful.
As the pop account recognises xyz(a)mail.foo.com i do not have to create
another domain / sub domain or pop accounts/ aliases or forward it or
anything else.
Thanx for everyhting.
Noel.

But this will mean recompiling the X system? I dont think I have the
sources for it.

I tried gv - it opens pdf files too. It also has an antialiasing option,
which when enabled, renders the text quite OK. But the problem is gv is
not terribly UF.
>Login as root and follow the steps
I had tried this before but without success.
>(2) $ ttmkfdir > fonts.scale
I dont have ttmkfdir. I have mkttfdir ;) And it writes to the fonts.dir
file directly. I have to use the -d (force output to stdout) option and
then redirect it to the file fonts.scale.
>(3) $ mkfontdir
This reads the fonts.scale file and reproduces an exact copy in the fonts.dir.
>(4) $ xset fp+ `pwd`
this gives me error #37 bad font path element :
possible reasons - directory does not exist or has wrong permissions
directory missing fonts.dir
incorrect font server address or syntax.
Of these the first two I checked and they seemed to be OK.
>(5) $ xset fp rehash
>(6) Use 'xlsfonts' to verify that fonts are now there in the current

Thanks. The problem was solved later, it was a hardware connection
problem.

Hi luggers.
I am re installing RH 6.2,during installation, after
the Disk Druid Partition Screen , LILO configuration ,
with default OS selection , MBR or not , etc should
come.
That screen dosent come , instead it straight goes to
the time setting/followed by formatting/installing
packages.
I am using a 32 Mb boot, 128 mb swap,(both linux
native) , 1302 mb / (winfat32), in disk druid.
and if LILo screen dosent come , how do i make sure
the LILO gets installed to help me at boot time.
Thanks for taking the trouble.

I did install Mc Afee. Unfortunately i have not yet been able to install
amavis on the mail server. I got some errors and thought that i would
install it later. I think it is time for me to try installing it.
My mails are scanned at the desktops (in windows) as of now.
