This is a message that comes up all over my system logs -
Aug 27 19:51:11 trantor5 modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module
char-major-6
I suspect this is because some alias in /etc/modules.conf is missing
... where do I look for the relevant module name? I am using kernel
2.4.7 compiled on my machine.

There's Cistron, I believe. Mukund Deshmukh implemented that as a sample
for BSNL Nagpur recently.

Hi Mayuresh,
Since you have no intentions in stopping to send profinity mails to the
list, you have been removed from the list. and are banned to join the
list again.
You have compelled us to take this strict step even after you been given
enough warnings to stop your profinity mails and maintain decorum on
the list.

hi,
i've seen in many linuxers' mails (specially PHILIP TELLIS) that the
signature changes with every email. how do you manage to do that???
i use evolution & netscape 6.1 (yeah...both of them crash a lot :))
in which you have to specify which signature file to use. my first guess
is that to write a small "c" program which will overwrite say,
"signature.txt" every min. with the help of cron. this program will take
input from a small database of signatures.
any hints/ideas?. thanks you.

You will have to purchase the scan engine even for linux unless you want to
use a 3 month demo version.

They told me that there shud a LAN card on yr m/c. Now which LAN

TIA,

No, but if you boot into single user mode, you may be able to change the root password directly.

Ok. I opened the telex machine and found the following details.
8088 pc chip
2 telex cards (for 2 lines) model No. 405-2
Chipset of the telex card
AMD-8085A-2PC
/P8085A
8135 EP.
There are two 9pin cables connecting the telex cards to a DC/DC converter
(what's that) There's a 360 KB floppy drive on the system with some system
files. The floppy never used to work earlier, the drive cable was loose. The
floppy contained some files command.com, autoexec.bat, start.com, duend.com
(what's that). The machine does not need the floppy to boot. so the system's
operating system must be on a boot rom.
