Hi,
I just subscribed to this group. Just mailing to say hi to
everyone.
I stay at powai, andheri.
Bye.
The software that is popular need not be best. The software that is best
need not be popular. It is a matter of choice what you prefer, best or
popular. Linux gives you choice and also is the best software today in the
market, ever guessed how much does it cost?

Subject: Linux Bangalore/2002
Dear Fellow LUG Coordinator,
Greetings from the Bangalore Linux User Group!
Last year, the BLUG had organised India's first national level Linux and
OpenSource event, with stupendous success. Have a look at
http://linux-bangalore/2001 to get a taste of how it went.
This year, we are back again!
Linux-Bangalore/2002 is a three day conference on understanding and using
Linux and OpenSource technologies, to be held on December 3, 4 & 5 2002 at
Bangalore.
This is a one of a kind annual Linux event held in India and we would like
to invite you and the members of your LUG to participate in this event as
delegates and (if possible) as speakers as well.
Detailed Information on how to participate as well as news and updates can
be found on our website for the event at http://linux-bangalore.org/2002/
We have a mailing list where you can give your views/inputs about the
event and it also allows for interaction amongst the various participants
and the organisers. linux-bangalore-2002(a)yahoogroups.com (Subscription
instructions at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/linux-bangalore-2002/)
This is a community driven event and we would *really* appreciate it if the
members of your LUG would participate in the discussions and (if possible)
at the event itself.
Please forward this note to your members via your mailing list.
Looking forward to your LUG's participation in the event.
With warm regards,
Kingsly John
Coordinator

hello,
i use Mandrake 9.0 with ext3 file system and Win XP with NTFS.
I am able to properly mount my Windows partition and read the files stored
in that partition.
However I am not able to copy any of my files from any of my linux folders
back to XP.Windows is protected by a password.Hence I tried to make the
relevant folders shareable through windows which didnt help.changing
permissions through linux didnt help either, because it simply doesnt allow
me to make the windows folders writeable.
is it something regarding the issues that Linux has with NTFS that does not
allow me to do this?
Will the use of Samba help me in this regard?
thanks
-NDK

Hi Luggers,
I am currently in the process of building a custom
GNU/Linux system for myself using 'Linux From
Scratch' as a reference. How do I make a
distribution of my own, complete with a custom
installation script. Can anyone suggest some
literature which I could download.
Since I'm taking the pains/pleasure to select the
right mix of packages for myself I might as well
distribute it to others who want the same mix of
packages :-)

hi ppl
we have come up with a list of packages for the bootcd
what we r doing is that we r building a prototype of the bootcd on
rh8 first coz we r comfortabl;e with that. Later down the line
when we know how to make the bootcd we will make one on debian.
that is becoz with debian i think we will be able to put in more
applications in those 650 mb.
so here are the list of packages
