hi, i got multiple processes running on my system, whose process id's (PID) can be known by "ps". My query is .... can we increase and/or decrease the priority of these processes "dynamically", so that i can choose which process gets the maximum and which one gets the minimum CPU TIME. best of luck. ashutosh.

Hi guys, This is my first post on Mumbai-GLUG. I have a problem with conversion of a batch set of files. I need to convert a set of 10000 images of a certain format to another. A segfault can be caused by a multitude of reasons such as incompatible libraries to corrupt binaries or hdd issues as well as rootkits. You can try running chkrootkit. Clifford.

segmentation fault

Why do i get segmentation fault when i do 'mkdir' or 'ls' I tried to search in internet for the same but was not able to find a proper answer / or i could understand the answer :(( The machine where i'm getting this is in internet. How could i recover this ? -Dilip.M

hi pramila, i am using LILO for Redhat8. what Narayan Kejriwal = says is absolutely correct. for LILO also same procedure, to change '= lilo.conf' file. hi Dilip, Narayan Kejriwal's is the best appr= oach to this problem. chek it urself. suggest a speedy window manager

hi ppl, this is my first mail to the list. I am a relatively newbie to linux. The problem is that i am using gnome as my desktop, which seems to have slowed down my system considerably. Could anyone of u suggest me any other window manager, which would speedup the system, be simple and provide optional features. Tried KDE but no performance improvement. Although system upgradation would speedup .... but that's not a option. Thanks, Ashutosh.
