Next version of Debian?

I was at the Debian website and read that the next version of their OS (Sarge) is going to built with gcc 3.2. I use RedHat 7.2 and have wanted to use a distribution built with gcc 3.2 so I could use the much improved C++ compiler without hassles. I also wanted to switch to Debian. So the logical conclusion would be to wait for Sarge to be released. [OT][Announce] New Xqueeze Release

Hi all! I'm glad to announce a new release of Xqueeze Reference Implementation. Major changes are: - Syntactic support for PIs and Namespaces - Support for inclusion of internal DTDs - Parsing without the knowledge of schema Please see http://xqueeze.sourceforge.net/docs.shtml for documentation and http://xqueeze.sourceforge.net/download.shtml for downloads. Future Development: Future versions of xqML encoding would include the following features: - Built-in data types for boolean, decimal, float/double, dateTime, date, time and dateTime (and possibly duration) - More compact representation of attributes and elements with CDATA content - Possibly, encoding without the knowledge of schema - Possibly, speed-ups for access to particular parts of a large document The next version of Xqueeze Reference Implementation would be redesigned to provide DOM and SAX interfaces, and I would also do performance testing this time. Meanwhile, I would be grateful to receive feedback regarding the development of this project. How to change permission

Hi friends, I have a file abc.txt in my web site ftp.aief.net (/tmp/abc.txt) I want to change the access privilage of the file abc.txt to 777 from my local machine. I require a single command line to do the above inorder to put the command in crontab. Please suggest me how to do. I had sent an earlier mail and if it made confuse, please exeuse me. Garbled text solution

Greetins, I had posted a few days back asking help for the Garbled text in RH 8.0, I have found that by following these two simple things the quality of the output of the console can be incresed. 1. Setting LANG="en_US" in /etc/sysconfig/i18n (Defaults to en_US.UTF-8). 2. Using frame buffer mode for the console. I used vga=789 as a parameter to my kernel to accomplish this. Bye. -- Amish K. ELX Business Desktop 2.0

Has anyone used, or is using, ELX Business Desktop 2.0? I hear it is a single CD, and very user friendly, but what I would like to know is what distro is it based on? And, what sort of packages can I install on it (RPMs/APT/...)? I hear it uses Webmin, so does it have like a all encompassing package manager or something? hi all, i have a compled c file ... with output file as a.out ( or any other name ) But this file is executed only on giving # ./(filename) how do i convert it into a executable so that it executes only on giving the filename ( like in Windows as file.exe )
