fvwm and Mozilla

Hello again, It is about fvwm again. When I open some applications (particularly Mozilla, Netscape, GThumb) my wallpaper and the application do change into some psychdelic backgrounds. Each time the mouse focus moves from the application to the desktop or vice versa, the colors get swapped. I do not have any problems apps such as Acrobat or OpenOffice etc. They are working fine. Has anyone seen this behaviour before? How do I fix these color changes in display? Changing over ... on the desktop

(Note the subtle ad for our company ;-) ) But even within our company, apart from the techies, there is resistance to shift to the Linux desktop. We have now forcibly convinced ;-) our graphic designer to move. She is now using GIMP and getting used to it. This is definitely the way to go. It took me over one year to switch over, even after getting personally convinced that Free Software is a great concept. But once I switched over, I use GNU/Linux for 95% of my work. (The other 5% is spent in cybercafes, over which I wish I had more control/choice). It works fine for me. Stability, virus-free (except one work once ... for sticking to RedHat 6.2 long long after it was recommended, simple and clean tools and hardly any use of 'pirated' tools). But it takes time to get over the uncertainity and fear. is there any documents available which will explain properly about these runlevel scripts and initiallization scripts... Actually i am trying to create my custom linux operating system... Kernel Compilation Blues

Hi, I am trying to install the new kernel 2.5.70, from kernel.org I compiled the kernel and the modules and installed it using make install. I installed the modules too using make modules_install. However after making the necessary changes to lilo and rebooting, I could not boot into the new kernel. The comp says "Uncompressing Linux..... ok" and hangs. No messages further. no error message... nothing. I tried it with initrd (and necessary changes to lilo.conf) using mkinitrd but even that does not work. Where am I going wrong? What modules will be required in the initrd files? I used only ext2 and ext3. -- Goldwyn :o) Windows 95 never has bugs. It just develops random features.

I do have the debian-sid cds someone's asking for. However a word of warning ... Its not supposed to be a distro with full-fledged installer and all that. LAKSHMI and MADHUSHREE DATTA. This Review is the concluding event in the PUKAR Monsoon DOC-SHOP, a five-day workshop for undergraduate students held from 19-23 May 2003 at PUKAR. The panel discussion will feature the following speakers: ASHISH RAJADHYAKSHA is Senior Fellow of the Centre for the Study of Culture & Society (CSCS), Bangalore (http://www.cscsban.org), and was the editor of the Encyclopaedia of Indian Cinema (1999). He is an active member of the editorial collective of the Journal of Arts and Ideas, and is a regular contributor to Framework and to Sight & Sound. He has written the book Ritwik Ghatak: A Return to the Epic (1983), was Editor, The Sad and Glad of Kishore Kumar (Research Centre for Cinema Studies, 1988); was Editor, with Amrit Gangar, of Ghatak : Arguments/Stories (Screen Unit/Research Centre for Cinema Studies, 1987). Her first film was "I Live in Behrampada" (1993), on the Bombay riots in 1992-1993. She has since made eight films on diverse themes such as performance and female impersonation in "Sundari: An Actor Prepares", on visual cultures in "Made in India", on young girls growing up in "Memories of Fear", on the 12th century bhakti poet Mahadevi Akka in "Scribbles on Akka", and on sexuality and girl trafficking in "Ailo Bailo Sailo". She has written extensively on the politics of facts, and is presently working on a multi-part film on the mega-metropolis of Mumbai.
