Hi Ashwin Khandare, You were looking for some Linux based realtime video server; have u come across any such? The reason I'm asking this is that I'm also interested in that kind of thing. Write me about ur requirements & current status on the same, I'll b happy if I can be of any help! Plz write me if u (or anybody from this list) know any Linux based MPEG4 Encoder (both pc based board & supporting encoding software) to simultaniously capture & stream live video. Morning Mr. Sudhir, With reference to your article on page 32 "Dell Latitude D600", Praveen has done a wonderful job about the same. But when it comes to evaluating the Laptop with Linux, i should there's much to desired. He tries the same with Lindows 3.0 and states the same has failed to work with GUI/X. I do understand that an esteemed publication like yours needs to platform neutral and present the facts as-is. On this side of the line we just expect well researched facts/figures. In case your reporters need help on the same they can always dash couple of emails to me. I do take the onus of helping out if/when possible. But would humbly request well researched articles/facts/figures. One small bad review here....and one there all adds up to a mega mix of publicity we can do without. ".............As though the SCO v/s IBM standoff wasn't enough, the Linux battle is going to get murkier as thousands of underlying patented codes from different sources lie within its source. How these patents will affect SCO's claims of intellectual property infringements remains to be seen." This morning was to jolt me so bad that i decided to pen this following email and give your publication a piece of my mind. Sir....these lines as commented in your esteemed magazine don't seem to be well researched. I have been an avid reader for a long time now but such attrocious comments i won't stand for. Besides, i also suggest your publication takes sometime to review the story on how Microsoft post alignment with SCO has got the frailing victim to sue IBM and create the ensuing stir in markets world wide. It just goes to show the kind of cheap tricks mircosoft will play towards creating FUD about the Open Source and Free Software Movement. Rather than get further from the crux of the issue, my humble suggestion would be to give an impartial look to the SCO v/s IBM story in your coming edition since you have already taken the trouble to harness FUD in IT users nationwide with your article. It indeed would help provide readers with clarity on the ETHICS of Microsoft and other Bullies in the market place. vishal (help me regarding apache filter )
