The linmodem site has various drivers but the full version is available for a price, not free. The free version is limited to 14kbps.
Suppose one were to choose a new internal modem available in lamington road, then what make of linmodem would be best suited for a wide variety, especially on P4 systems and latest linux distros of RedHat, SuSe, Mandrake etc. There are websites for compatible hardware, but If anyone has actually purchased one from Lam. Road and is satisfied with the drivers available and the ease of installation, then the details for the same would be most appreciated. At present I am switching between XP (for internet) and Linux too. Xandros does not have a firewall so its very scary to go online. There are too many entry attempts being detected by my firewall.

hi rony,
as far as linmodems are concerned i have no idea...
....but as far as ur concern abt no firewall in linux is concerned, try installing "clamav" (its a firewall for linux). I downloaded it using apt-get in KNOPPIX...i'm not sure if it works with other OSes.

Onkar.
