i want to configuring my internet connection (ethernet based) through linux. it reqiures following inputs
IP address
gateway address
DNS address
WINS Address
There is no proxy.
After configuring this address in linux i wonn't connect to internet.
how do I configure this.

if ur using redhat go to the konsole in root usr mode and do a "netconfig" put in the details and do a "service network restart"(assuming u have been provided with all the details by ur isp and also that this isp uses tcp/ip protocol)that shud just do it and if its a pppoe protocol do a adsl-setup(again in su mode) and then just adsl-connect should just about do it.
for debian systems there is this netcardconfig command for tcp/ip. i dont know abt pppoe for debian

1.can anyone of you help me with url= 's which are really helpfull
in mastering shell scripting. and ideas abt pr= ojects on shell
scripting.
2. if my system hang up at startup = and i am not able to move to
either windows or linux . then how to enter se= tup of linux.(from
there and also normally)
3.my boot loader s= ometimes get corrupted on some of the machines
because of users try to inst= all windows and
