As of last week, we've turned on moderation for new users. This is an experimental attempt to try and ensure that newbies to the list have a simple, and peaceful initiation into the ways of this list. GRAMPS... a useful GNU/Linux genealogy program

ANYONE OUT there wanting a good project to support and be part of? GRAMPS is being called one of the best (I don't know how far this is true) genealogy programmes in GNU/Linux. It's said to fill a long-felt gap, by Free/Libre and Open Source Software enthusiasts wanting to do their genealogy work without proprietory software. It has good documentation written up too. But there are a lot of tasks waiting to be done. Debian expert needed to give us a "crash course"

Hi, We are working on bringing out the next version of Utkarsh - the Gujarati localized version of GNU/Linux. We don't have too much knowledge on Debian and Morphix/Mepis (Live CDs) are based on Debian. Can somebody help us with this? We would really like somebody to come spend some time with our team and teach us some basics! Want to do this on Monday / Tuesday if possible. We would be able to work out some compensation for this! Some Font file error in Suse 9.1

Dear Friends, Has anyone installed Suse 9.1 DE? I installed the iso downloaded from the site, its getting installed properly and works perfectly fine, except after 2 or 3 login sessions, when u login it comes back to the same login post. i have reinsalled the os thrice :( , but no luck. When i got in into the fail safe mode from grub, logged in as root and tried startx it gave me these lines. Could not init font path element /usr/x11r6/lib/x11/fonts/local, removing from list! Could not init font path element /usr/x11r6/lib/x11/fonts/CID, removing from list! Waiting for x server to shutdown Regards Dhananjay

... to post in this mailing list, other than being a list member. I subscribed to the list recently (successfully) and tried to post a question yesterday. The server immediately replied back saying my email is waiting approval from list admins. Is this some kind of a security screening against spammers.
